Love your Blog Challenge #1

A Playful Day

Community and Interaction

I'm joining with the Love your Blog Challenge from A Playful Day.  The first prompt is Community and Interaction in relation to blogging.  I'm not sure how I feel about this topic, my blog does not have a huge following (that I am aware of), unless there are a ton of lurkers here that do not post comments.  I myself am guilty of reading many blogs on a regular basis and not commenting.  I guess that is kind of the anti-interaction ...

So, here's is my question to you - do you read a lot of blogs on a regular basis, but do not comment?

There are several reasons why I sometimes do not comment ...  I start to and get stuck on what I want to say, I don't want to be another "yeah" comment, I don't have the platform to comment coherently (phone, tablet - no real keyboard), and will the blogger read and respond to my comment?

On the flip side, I certainly have "met" some really cool people through blogging, that I keep tabs on regularly and we share back and forth.  I am happy with that, I would rather have a few people who comment that I can share with then a ton of superficial "relationships".

Sometimes I look back at my blog and its a great journal or record of my crafting.  I rarely share personal stuff on my blog, its all about the knitting, spinning, crafting and of course ... some kitties.

So my last question is, why do you blog?

I am new to blogging, in fact just 3 weeks old. I do comment but not regularly, and if I have an email subscription, I end up just reading the mail and not bothering to comment. But now, I do try to comment more often:)

I'm a new blogger but I hear what you are saying. Until now I've really struggled to comment on the blogs I've been reading. I don't know why...perhaps part shyness part thinking that what I'm saying won't be valid. But with this challenge I'm reaching out both in terms of blogging & commenting and I hope to meet some new friends :)

I read lots of blogs but rarely comment as the hoops you jump through is a bugger... Mostly I use iPad and keying is a pain. And yours is no different. Having to verify I'm not a robot and then signing in to google. Pain in the @ss.....

I just wrote a REALLY long comment.... and lost it in the sign -in / robot thing.

I don't have time to rewrite it all but suspect changing this process might help a lot with getting more comments.

I'm not really sure *why* I blog ......I guess because I enjoy interacting with other bloggers. Or maybe because I enjoy journaling.

I comment if I have something to say, but I don't always comment.

oooo....good questions. yes, I really do try hard to comment on blogs I read, and for the reasons you listed. It's nice to know that people are reading....those who comment, I sometimes end up 'chatting' with....and on occasion, I have ended up creating some of my very dearest friendships. I totally understand, though, the people who just pop in.
Blogging? I started as an excuse to use my camera more....and to document what I've been doing. Kids are all grown, so that doesn't play a role. It's led me down one rabbit hole after another.....to whole food/clean eating, to enrolling in some additional photography classes, and of course, to knitting a whole lot of things I'd never have even FOUND if not for blog-friends. So, now....I blog primarily for the community I've found of like-minded people---some very very young, some older like me, but somewhere along the way, I've found a kindred spirit. :)

I try to comment...if not on every post, at least regurarly....if someone leaves a comment on my post that seems to need an answer, I will...but blogger doesn't really have a great interface for that...so I'll address it in a post...or send an email, if I can find one...or answer on that person's blog...and I have been reading your blog for awhile...

A thought provoking post.
When writing my own post I noted that blogging is a two way process, so for the first time ever in my blogging life I've made a point of commenting on every since post I've read (having said that I hope I haven't missed anyone).
As I've read the posts so many people are mentioning lurkers, part of why I lurk much of the time is it takes time to make meaningful comments, and most of us are time-poor. Just because I've decided to read and comment on all the blogs I come across, I don't expect to get as many comments back as I've posted. It doesn't matter, what matters is we are all out there creating a vibrant community composed of many different and interesting people

I do comment sometimes but like others have mentioned, the logging in process can be cumbersome - especially on a smart phone. I find the same with my blog - quite a few readers but not much comment. I guess that's where the immediacy of Twitter and IG win out.

Yes, guilty as charged (and great question!). I have very rarely commented on blog posts in the part, sometimes because I don't have anything to say, but often because I feel that my comment doesn't matter to the writer. The Love Your Blog challenge has made me think much more about blogging in general and I'm determined to really actively engage in it m, which means also taking time to comment.
Why do I blog? Lots of reasons! Self-expression, storytelling, the joy of writing, sharing things that are important to me. I want to try to build more connections through that.

Such an interesting post! I guess I blog because I like to share. I think I really like the hobby enthusiasts out on the internet. I find them very supportive. I have benefited a lot from other people's adventures. I'm grateful there are other people just as bonkers about yarn and knitting as me -- since I don't have so many of those in my day to day routine. But also, I have benefited from living vicariously to other peoples hobbies. Like you and your spinning and interest in garment construction/design. Things I may not necessarily want to do, but have fun watching -- gardening. Oh! and photography. I have been slightly influenced by that if only to take more photos, but you know, not fancy ones, ha!
