WIP Wednesday 5-4-11

Check out other WIP Wednesday Blogs here!

Icarus Shawl
I started this one last year. I remember why I put it down now, there are so many stitches and those purl back rows are killer!

Dover Castle Shawl
Yarn is Dream in Color Starry Dusky Aurora. There are sparkly bits in there that didn't photograph. I love this pattern. The lace pattern is easy to follow and remember.

These are not all the WIPs I have on the needles at the moment, but they are the two I've been working on the last week!

They are both very nice. I love the purple color and the pattern looks awesome. Beyond my skills so am envious. Keep up the good work.

Lovely!!!!

I know what you mean about purl back rows -they also drive me crazy on those looooong shawl rows. My mum knits back and forth straight projects (like a knitting machine) so she never has to purl - I really must get a video of it! :)

Very pretty shawls! I know what you mean about killer purl rows ...

Gorgeous! The lace on the Dover Castle Shawl is lovely. You choose such pretty colors, too. I am working on two garter stitch projects now because purling is such a pain, especially for my wrists.

Gorgeous colors! That Dream in Color yarn sucks me in every time. Eventually, I'll cave, but for now, I'll just enjoy it vicariously through you. You're awfully brave to be working two shawls at once -- I'm impressed!

Dream in colour are one of my favourite yarns.

Sarah - you have intrigued me with the non purling suggestion. Might have to look that up.

Pretty!

I always think I hate the purl rows, but then when I do a shawl that has lace on the purl rows too (like Percy Shawl), I remember that rest rows are lovely and mindless!

I don't think I could do two shawls at once. It would scramble my brain, I'm afraid!

Sometimes I like the purl-back rows as a little mindless vacation from the lace pattern on the right side, but the longer they get, the less I like them. Both shawls are going to be gorgeous! I have Dover Castle in my queue -- I made another of the designer's shawls (Heart of Wales) and it is one of my all time favorites.

I tried icarus as one of my very first lace projects... bad idea. It got frogged, but I do want to try it again. Love the colours in your dusky aurora
