Sophie's Universe CAL Clue 3

I completed Clue 3 today.  Technically I completed it the other day, but 1) I learned that when the instructions say, if using the same color, chain 1 and sc in the same stitch does not mean in the same stitch you just made a stitch in, it means in the same stitch you just made ... there is a difference, LOL! 2) I had originally not done the optional crab stitch round and moved on to clue 4 because it said that this made the piece wonky, but blocking would fix that ... well this is 100% acrylic yarn, blocking is not going to fix that.  Then as I was perusing other projects on Ravelry someone else had made one in this very yarn and had done the optional round ... so when I went to fix #1, I did the optional round on the redo (and its not actually that wonky)

At this rate I am completing a clue a month and the rounds get bigger and bigger so I am not sure how long this is going to go.  I also am doing a clue a month because I tend to hurt my wrist crocheting and have to take frequent breaks.

I am amazed at how much I have learned, at this point I can count stitches, see when something went wrong or something was skipped and I'm actually remembering the different stitches now!

So far in this piece have done:
Single Crochet
Half Double Crochet
Double Crochet
Treble Crochet
Double Treble Crochet
Popcorn Stitch
Cluster Stitches
Front Post stitches
Crab Stitch

Next clue is back post stitches!

Traveling Monsters Vol. 1

I said farewell to Irvina last week and off she went to her first stop on her tour of traveling ...

Pumpernickel arrived shortly before she left, so I have someone to keep me company while I distressed over her initial departure :o)

He's a cheesehead from Wisconsin, so he had no trouble adapting to the snowy conditions on his arrival.

It is warming up a bit here, but we still have snow around and its been rainy and windy, so we haven't gone to see any sights, he's been hanging around and helping me in the craft room.

FO: Irvina the Ice Box Monster

Pattern: Irving the Ice Box Monster by Rebecca Danger
Yarn: Left Overs of Dream in Color Starry and Mad Tosh Sport
Needles: US 1.5 (2.5mm)
Started: 3/10/15
Finished: 3/11/15

So I stumbled upon the sign up for the Traveling Monsters on Rebecca Danger's Ravelry Group (I think I saw it before, but forgot) on the LAST DAY to sign up and sign up I did.  Monsters have to be mailed at the end of the month.  I wanted to make sure I was done in time ... not anticipating it would only take 2 days to knit, LOL!!

I think I am going to call her Irvina (the original is Irving from the pattern) ... I think it looks more like a girl???

She will travel from house to house 2 weeks at a time (for as many participants as there are) and return to me at the end of her travels.  I likewise will have house guests.  These guests will be taken out and shown around town (with photos to go back to their families).

Silly fun, LOL!

Sophie's Universe CAL Clue 2

Sophie's Universe Clue 2 completed.  I'm not sure I worked all of the stitches correctly ... or better yet, into the correct stitches, but the whole point of this project was a learning experience.  And learning I am!

I'm not sure I am loving the colors ... I pretty much picked very similar colors to what was called for in the pattern (I substituted yarn).  I also think that the designer had the right idea with a cotton or cotton blend yarn, the stitch definition is much better in the samples for the pattern ... but I was going for cost effective in case this did't work out, LOL!

Clearly the design still shows fine, but this is 100% acrylic ... so not much I can do about blocking when its done.

Friday Felines Vol. 7 2015

Nikoh

Nikoh has a lot of personality.  Some (my husband) might call it annoying ... I think he's intelligent and funny.  He sits on the coffee table a lot, usually facing the other way (at us), with his head tilted to one side begging for our food.  If chicken wings are involved, he will tilt his head so far it looks like it might fall off.  Here he is apparently enjoying the current television program ...

FO: Voodoo You Love Me?

Pattern: Voodoo you love me? by Susan Claudino
Yarn: Left over of Swan Island Worsted Natural Colors in Charcoal
Needles: US 6 DPNs
Dates: 2/22/15 to 3/4/15

Love this pattern.  It was getting a little tedious on the limbs ... you make 4 of the same ... but they are small and quick.  I finished the legs today and all the finishing.  The finished Voodoo is about 12" tall.  Very fun knit.
